Fall Harvest!
Each year as we ship our fish around the world, we see some fish that catch our eye. These are grown out in our mud ponds for 2 or 3 years and then harvested for sale. Our methods are a bit different from most. Similar fish to these are available on a hand pick basis for our top dealers each year. Their dedication and continuous purchases earns them the right to come down to our Florida farm and pick some great fish without the hassles of a 10-16 hour flight. Our varieties will contain, Kohaku, Shusui, Showa, Kumonryu, Chagoi, Shiro Utsuri, Hi Utsuri, Kawarigoi, Yamabuki, purachina(platinum) Tancho, Kikokuryu, Goshiki, Goromo, Kujaku, Asagi, Kin Showa, Matsuba, and lots of other varieties.

The fish listed on the next pages were hand selected for sale to the public directly. This offering allows you to buy fish straight from the source during those parts of the year when they are not available from your local Blackwater Creek dealer.
Our system Is a little different from the Koi "brokers" listing fish? We keep our costs low by cutting out some of the things that take a lot more time such as exact measurements, long winded descriptions, and a lot of sales fluff. All of these things take a lot more time and stress on the fish (and the staff). This also would force us to raise our Koi prices significantly. Currently we have more Koi and goldfish, than we do office time to list them.
There will be some general descriptions of the variety pictured; these comments are based on the facts, not fluff. We have had these fish in our possession since they were born. Therefore we can usually provide a good idea of what they will do.
Price- The Koi are priced based on their overall look at the time the picture was taken. If the price is higher, that means that we find a lot of value in the fish. Joe Pawlak, the senior Koi person here has seen millions of Koi in his lifetime ... from all over the world. He has a great eye as to what is rare and valuable. In other instances if the farm had a great year spawning a variety, the price may be lower. For instance, the Kumonryu were out of this world for the last couple of years. We have a lot of them and they are priced to sell. In the future, if the spawn is not as good, the price will need to be higher to cover production costs. Bottom line, if you like the fish buy it. There is only one of this specific fish available. Each is unique.
This is great for you the Koi buyer. If you are looking for a specific fish, chances are you'll see it go through these pages.
SEX (no not that kind)...The sex of the fish is a question that is often asked. Let me start by saying that we do not sort our fish and keep all the females for ourselves. These fish are mixed. Both males and females are available in these fish. To keep the price down and the handling/stress of the fish low, we do not sex the fish. It's time consuming. If you absolutely need to know the gender of the Koi, we can go to the tanks, net the fish, knock it out and tell if its boy or girl. ..... But first we will need to charge a $100 "sexing fee" this is regardless of weather you purchase the Koi or not. If it's that important. We will need to cover the time and handling involved. We would charge your credit card prior to doing the work involved. If you do not require sexing, you will save some money and still end up with a great group of Koi and butterfly Koi. I would assume that the ratio of males to females is 50/50. If you are purchasing these fish for a breeding program, buy three of the same variety will greatly improve your chance of getting males and females.
Condition of the fish. These fish are wonderful, bright and healthy. They are not without defects. All Koi have varying degrees of imperfections. These fish are held in quarantine for a period of time prior to being offered for sale. They will be in robust and in healthy shape when shipped, however there is the possibility of a bump on the tail where an anchor worm attached in the past, or a small scratch, or some other minor imperfection. In no way are these a detriment to the fish. If it's something major, it will be noted, if it's very minor, it can be seen by the enlarge-able photos.
Size- The sizes of these fish are around 10-14 inches. We have not gotten completely specific however we try to include something that represents the size such as part of a ruler or a quarter on the bottom, or something to give a general size. In general these are two year old fish.
Shipping-These fish can be shipped directly to your door for a flat rate fee of $40 per fish. Not to your local airport, but directly to your door! This is a time and money saver for all of us. Even better, buy a combination of 10 fish and get free shipping, buy five or more fish and get 25% off shipping per fish.
Upon placing your order, the fish will be shipped within 10 days or less. We cannot hold fish longer as tanks space is always a premium. (We have a lot more fish to bring up from the ponds!)
Guarantee The Koi and butterfly Koi are guaranteed to arrive alive and in good shape. Occasionally they do stress some in shipping, however by following proper quarantine procedures and adding salt to the water, the fish will do great. These fish are guaranteed live arrival and 5 days past that. Should you have a question or need help, call us here at the farm at 352 357 4563 and we'll help you. This guarantee covers the cost of the fish. Replacements are done based on the discretion of the farm manager and staff at Blackwater Creek Koi Farms Inc. Buyer is responsible for replacement freight.
In no instance shall Blackwater Creek Koi farms be liable for more than the cost of the original purchase price of the fish.
Quarantine- All fish (regardless of where you purchase them) need to be quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks TOTALLY isolated from your other Koi and goldfish. Temperatures above 72 degrees and salted to 5 ppt. If you are unprepared or cannot quarantine the fish please do not purchase them here. Our facility is on the forefront of disease control, however, if you do not quarantine fish we would rather you not purchase fish, rather than have a minor problem in your main pond due to not quarantining new arrivals.
You will love these fish, get 'em while they are available, as the wholesale business starts back up, we will only be selling these through our dealer network.
To purchase, simply call or email us the ID number and your contact info. We will contact you to arrange the best shipping for you. We look forward to serving you!
Kumonryu/ Matsukawabake. This was the spawn of spawns a couple years ago. When we purchased the female breeder in Japan years ago, she was plain milky white, within two years, she had a great pattern. We are offering these fish in a finished state as well as an unfinished "milky” state. If your love to see Koi develop, buy the milky ones, if you want instant gratification buy the already good looking fish. The patterns will change from season to season. Also pictured are some other fish from the same spawn. If you want a Kumonryu, now is the time. Also pictures are some Matsukawabake (aka Hajiro) that are a scaled version of Kumonryu. Awesome fish.

Chagoi, Ochiba, Soragoi- These are the friendliest fish in the pond. Our other parts of the website describe them further. Some of these are "gold dust" Chagoi with an iridescence you will not find anywhere else. A pretty metallic sheen and some are also gin rin (sparkly scaled).
Kohaku, Sanke, Showa, What you see is what you get, we produce some nice ones, pick the pattern you like the best.
Goshiki- 5 color. Lots of nice patterns and some gin rin varieties. These fish are beautiful!
Kujaku - Peacock. Both Doitsu and regular scale available
Yamabuki Ogon ....nice bright yellow
These Butterfly also top the list of choices, a nice zipper pattern, clean heads and great finnage. Aprox. 12" at $600 each.
